Now, more than ten years since the waters that followed the breach of the canal wall inundated homes and businesses, Lakeview, Lake Vista, and its surrounding regions have come back stronger than ever. We still have a long way to go, but the outlook is positive. The Lakeview Veterans’ Day Parade will take place in one of the best New Orleans neighborhoods. Known for its community spirit, Lakeview residents enjoy a number of businesses, community centers, and centers of worship.
That positive outlook is due in part to the work and dedication of men and women in the uniform of our Armed Forces, protecting our properties and helping in the cleaning and demolition. It is also due in part to the heroic sacrifice of all those overseas protecting our freedoms...and who still continue to do so.
The parade will start at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Vicksburg Street near Harrison Avenue, proceed out onto Harrison Avenue and travel up to Argonne Blvd. where it will turn and then proceed back down Harrison Avenue to Vicksburg Street and then right toward the St. Dominic Schoolyard. It is not a long route, but it enough for our Veterans and for the people who want to come out and show their appreciation and admiration.
